Why is Camellia's Better?
What makes Camellia Brand dried beans, peas and lentils better? Well, just taste 'em!
Believe it or not, it does in fact go beyond taste. Many people grew up with Camellia Brand, especially in the South. It's the name they trust and it's no wonder. Camellia's been providing fresh, healthy products for over 75 years. That's a few generations that have enjoyed the quality while taking part in the history of our brand.
Red Kidney Beans Cooking Directions
Rinse and sort. Render meat to skillet. Remove meat and place on side. Sauté in fat in skillet, onion, garlic, parsley and celery. Add these with meat, bay leaf, salt and pepper to beans. Boil gently, stirring occasionally for about 1-1/2 hour, or until tender. Add water while cooking if necessary.

Dried beans and peas are a naturally grown, raw agricultural product. Although they have been mechanically cleaned before packaging, some foreign material may be present. Wash beans carefully and sort before cooking.

Blackeye Peas Cooking Directions
Rinse and sort. Cover with water, add meat, simmer about one hour. Sauté onion, garlic in shortening, add this with other ingredients and cook for half an hour or until soft. 
1 lb Camellia Blackeye Peas
1/2 pound seasoned meat
1 large onion, chopped
6-8 cups of water
1 tablespoon of shortening
Salt to taste
1/2 tablespoon thyme
1 pinch of sage (optional)
1 garlic toe

Red Beans & Rice Recipe
1 quart dried red beans
2 quarts of water 
1 pound of ham or salt pork 
1 chopped carrot
1 chopped onion
5 bay leaves

Salt & pepper to taste.

Soak the beans overnight in cold water; drain. Heat the beans in about 2 quarts of water, add all ingredients except salt and boil for at least 2 hours. When beans are tender, mash them up a bit. Serve on white boiled rice with meat and vegetables on top.

Serves 10 to 12 people.
